Circus Poster of Rodolfo

Here it is inked, the circus poster, but not done yet. I'm coloring it and cleaning it up some. Check back for the finished version.

you want a critique? i''m sure mike could give you a better one than i, but here goes!

i would thicken up the lines on the curtain a little more so it acts more like a frame for the characters. especially the pieces of the curtain that are under the tie off (nearest the 2 figures on either side). they're too close in line weight to the figures you have, and that keeps them from standing out. squint your eye and you'll see what i mean.

also, with it being a wood stage, i would add some longer grains and swirls like you see on planks most times. and possibly more on the pieces facing us, not the part of the stage where rodolfo is standing on. this is a lighting crit. they would be darker if the light wasn't hitting them.

one last crit is that it seems a bit odd that rodolfo is standing on said stage, but the other 3 are standing on the very edge of the stage, even though they're in perspective. they almost look like they're about to fall over. maybe extend the stage back more? add another lower section of the stage for them?

overall, i think this is an awesome piece, and one of your best so far. i'd have a blast coloring it myself! great controlled inkline!

I love this! Now that it's inked, it's so much easier for me to see what's going on here (although I thought the three guys in the background were on a painted backdrop rather than people on stage with Rodolfo--sorry, I seem to have gotten that wrong) And the little fuzzy guys are in there!! I can't wait to see what they're going to get into in the future.....

Thanks everyone! Scott thanks for taking the time to write an essay. hehehe... I was going to have them as a painting behind Rodolfo but a lot of people have suggested just making them part of the show.
