Sunsets, Binoculars, and Carcasses
This week I've been spending a lot of time down by the beach. When I feel flustered I always enjoy looking at the water and smelling the sea air. It calms me down after a crazy week. My friend Sheila, Alan and I went down to West View Shores in Maryland and watched the sunset. It was one of the most relaxing things anyone could do. You can hear the water breaking on the rocks and the seaguls flying over head, and the fish swimming around. Later this week I went back with Alan and sketched him on the beach and the boats floating by.
Walking around and searching for any old washed up things on the sand is sort of exciting. I'm very easily amused.
Looking through the binoculars at the sun is very filmesque. It looked like a scene out of an Akira Kurasawa's films. It was gorgeous.
This, at the bottom here, I found on the way to the beach. It was so barbaric and shocking to find. Someone shot it, chopped the head off and dumped the body on the side of the road. It sucked. I even felt bad taking this pic but I couldn't pass up taking a pic either. It's the photographer in me.
